Grey nail varnish and Sophie Dahl are my favourite.

Denim Jacket & Sunglasses- Topshop, Lace Dress - New Look, Clogs - Asos, Satchel - Vintage

I'm all about wearing my satchel like a backpack.

Summer is lazing around in the sun, rereading favourite books, listening to Francoise Hardy, drinking elderflower cocktails and eating bowl upon bowl of Scottish strawberries. Unfortunately I seem to have been spending more time sitting inside pursuing these summer treats, while the rain pounds against the windowpane but I'm not complaining I love rain so long as I don't have to go out in it. It provides time to listen to Classic FM, try out new recipes and sew.
This outfit pretty much sums up my summer wardrobe - dusky summer frock, denim jacket, grey tights, clogs, wayfarers and my satchel. With such changeable weather, I've become totally lazy and I just seem to switch the dress for an equally dusky one, clogs for sandals if we're graced with sun and bare legs. I can't even remember the last time I straightened my hair, I just blow dry my fringe and let it do its own thing.... lazy, lazy, lazy.
These summer staples are all pretty unexpected, I didn't get the whole clogs thing, I've never liked denim jackets, I don't like pastels; although it seems that actually I do, they just need to have a dusky tone. I've talked about my found love of the humble clog before but the denim jacket was a real step out of my comfort zone. This is ridiculous, I know... after all, its only a demin jacket. Its more casual than what I would usually go for and Miss Waldorf would never wear one but its the keystone to my summer wardrobe and I couldn't do without it. I told you before than I'm fickle...
Does anyone know where I can find a pair of tights in this particular shade of grey? I'm desperate to buy more and these are last season Topshop, long sold out.
EDIT - I'm trying out Lookbook again, I'm never quite sure if I like it or not...

I have a similar colour pair of tights that were actually from Primark.
ReplyDeleteI wore them last night and have pictures ready to post of my blog over the next few days it you want to take a look.
They do 'look' very similar to yours but you can never really tell with photographs, but I could e-mail you a picture if you're in a rush.
I really love your blog by the way xxx
Sounds like a gorgeous way to spend summer! I lvoe your summer look too!
ReplyDeleteMy TU from Sainsbury's tights are about that colour I think. They're the same sort of thickness as all my Topshop opaques too :)
ReplyDeleteHmm I've been trying to like my grey nail polish lately, I think you just helped me a bit in that direction.
ReplyDeleteLast week I got a pair of tights from M&S in 'slate' , reduced from £4 to £1.50, yay (also got them in 'kingfisher' and 'damson' because I couldn't resist but that's a whole different story). They're not as dark as yours I think but you could have a look if all else fails.
This outfit looks great on you, lovely post.

The colour of the dress against the grey tights is just perfect - so pretty. Love your satchel worn as a backpack!
ReplyDeleteThe satchel is perfect for the whole look.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd love grey nail varnish but it's really won me over - you're definitely rocking it too!
I love these colours together. I've got some tights that colour but really can't remember where I got them, I also have some ribbed ones the same colour from H&M so that's probably worth a look.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you spend summer! The outfit is a dream, you combine colours in a very interesting way.
ReplyDeletei love grey nail varnish too... and francoise hardy... anything french really
ReplyDeleteI really must use my grey nail varnish more...infact I may paint them right now. New Look had some slate coloured tights in today. Good quality too.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I think I'm in love with your satchel! So lucky! :)

aww you look adorable! The outfit is so cute but it must be pretty cold in Edimburg to be wearing tights and jacket.
ReplyDeleteI've died after seeing how many things from TBA you do own! I've only got one dress and because it was on super sale hahaha I'd kill for some of the pieces of the new collection though
Very cute look!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty outfit!
ReplyDeleteU look great! i'm soo happy i found your blog!!
ReplyDeletecould u please tell me about the clog sizing and if they are vomfy! please! coz i wanna buy them if they r still in stock =)
Style Crystal - I'm glad you enjoy my ramblings :)
ReplyDeleteThe clogs are really well made and really comfortable after they've been broken in. I'd suggest wrapping plasters around your little toe the first time you wear them... just until the leather softens up. As for sizing, I'm a 7 and these fit perfectly.
I hope you and your clogs are very happy together x
your dress is so pretty, i really enjoy your pics :)
