I love little treats, don't you? Little things that you really don't need but brighten up your day. I thought I'd share these with you because I've been raving about them on twitter and they seemed to raise a few questions.
Mini Benefit
I didn't mean to buy all three, really I didn't! I just went to buy a can of diet coke... Only then I noticed the free teeny, tiny Benetint

The Girl of My Dreams
Dear, sweet, illusive Lula stole a corner of my heart from the very moment I spyed Kirsten Dunst coyly peering from the cover. Now, twice a year I make the pilgrimage to Anologue Books - the best bookshop in Edinburgh, where they always keep a copy for me. Probably because I incessantly hassle them on twitter. Thanks for your stellar service and sorry for being annoying!
Issue 12 is captivating as ever, with interviews from Mia Wasikowska, Kinga Burza and a hoard of beautifully styled editorials. I especially enjoyed Troop Lula by Rory Satran. She writes about her love affair with Girls Scouting and the trials and tribulations of joining an American troop whilst living in London. Rodarte and Orla Kiely have also contributed 'Troop Lula' uniform designs alongside stills from Troop Beverly Hills (yes, that is young Jenny Lewis) and The Parent Trap (with Hayley Mills, not the awful remake) which I haven't seen for years. I wish I could say it was a childhood favourite but I was only three when it was released and in reality I only found it when I was about 17 and completely obsessed with Rilo Kiley. However, I managed to unearth a copy and I am pleased to report that Shelley Long's modified troop leader costume is still wonderful and Jenny Lewis is still cute as a button!

I grabbed all 3 copies of glamour straight away too, with the same predicament of what to do with the magazines too.
ReplyDeleteI've never managed to get a copy of Lula, but looks like a stunning magazine from your pictures!
I just read something about Lula, and will have to find somewhere here that stocks it. Usually I get Frankie from WHSmiths, but this doesn't look like what they would sell there at all!
ReplyDeleteLula looks lovely, might try and pick it up!
ReplyDeleteSirens and Bells xx
Make collages!
ReplyDeleteLuckily I only got one copy with some Posie Tint, because I already own the full size versions of Benetint and Highbeam!
Bargain. I am going to do the same and snap up all 3 samples! x
ReplyDeleteI love that trio! Benetint has to be one of my all-time favorite lipcolors. :D
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny, as I picked up all 3 of the benefits and came home to find my copy of Lula on the welcome mat! A very similar day indeed! x

what lovely photos! x
ReplyDeleteThe new Lula is out? Gotta run over to the store! And the issue with Kirsten Dunst was the one that captured my heart, too!
ReplyDeleteI love your shelves, it all looks so pretty! I've only bought one issue of Glamour for the high beam. Must try to track Lula down in London! x
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing Benetint for the last twelve or so years and I LOVE it! I would definitely go buy three copies of Glamour if they came with Benefit samples (I don't think they're offering them here in the US).
ReplyDeleteI love your green bric-a-brac shelf, by the way. The miniature London figurines are too cute.
oh my goodness that lula magaine looks magnificent! i need to find it somewhere in australia!
ReplyDeletei love little treats too! unfortunately i'm too poor to buy even little treats now :p hahaha
Right now, Sephora is offering all three minis for $15. I'm really tempted to grab them. Are they really that awesome?
ReplyDeleteI bought three copies too! Luckily mine were all in the same shop - easy! It really is very clever marketing. I'm afraid I didn't think much of the magazine at all though! Well, at least we have recycling services...
ReplyDeleteI totally need to snag Lula! Loving these shots.
ReplyDeleteI adore little treats... I have myself a good collection and they are my greatest treasures, for some reason they make the details everyone needs, right??
ReplyDeleteOh, I have a golden spyglass as well, I love it! :)

Thanks for the heads up, I've wanted to try their High Beam for ages! I drove straight to Morrisons after reading this post and then gave the magazine to my Mum ha ha.
ReplyDeleteTea and blog chats sounds perfect, especially if it's at the Botanics! And I'm very curios as to what your favour is, I look forward to hearing from you!
*Curious, oops!
ReplyDeleteExcellent tip offs! I shall be heading straight out in search of benefit (by way of Glamour) once the way stops. And then out again in search of Lula once I'm nearer some more likely stockists...
ReplyDeleteI love your little display cabinet full of trinkets!
ReplyDeleteI love Lula! But it's so expensive to get here because of international freight charges, Sadly :(
ReplyDeletei need to buy it asap. wow i love benifit.
ReplyDeleteYour shelves are so pretty, so too are the things in it! And Lula, my gosh, how beautiful it is! I have to wait until it comes to Australia, but I've already tracked down a news agency that stocks it ;)

I think I may have to get 3 copies now! Thats if they are still in stock xxx
ReplyDeleteI bought the issues that came with Posietint and Benetint... is High Beam any good? Might as well purchase that too! Oh I can't wait to grab a copy of the new Lula. Such a shame it costs rather a lot, but for such a beautiful publication I think it's worth it. On a side note, the dresses you've been making are lovely and I can't wait to see your shop (on etsy right?) when it's set up - I was just wondering roughly how much you're going to charge your dresses? I'm sure they're going to be on my wishlist once you open up shop :) xxx
ReplyDeletePretty pictures! I really want to try the Posie Tint but can't find Glamour anywhere!

ReplyDeleteI love looking at the details of all of your tiny trinkets! xx
ReplyDeleteI love your little display cabinet, I need something similar!
ReplyDeleteI too now have three copies of Glamour. Everyone that I tried to foist one off on flicked through it, said some variant of "what a load of rubbish", then gave it back.
Unrelatedly, have you had a look at the Office sale? I just snapped up some T-bars called 'Religious Studies' that I can imagine you looking cute in.
