Every girl has a sartorial weakness, some hoard shoes, others cannot resist bags but my frailty will always be the winter coat. When I say winter coat, what I really mean is any outdoor garment that can be worn between September and April. Peacoat, Mackintosh, Princess Coat, Swing Coat, Car Coat, Cape, Found in a thrift store resembling a school blazer... I have one of each but what I do not own is a Duffle coat. I've always though them a little frumpy, that is until I found this little darling, just waiting for me in the clearance section on Asos with a rather nice discount. After quickly confirming with my GBF (He owns twice as many coats as me and is always goading me into buying more) that it was acceptable to commence coat buying in August. He informed me that he is already ahead by two purchases and I clicked 'buy now'.
When it arrived I hung it gleeful in my wardrobe with all my other hoarded woollens, ready to pull out when the leaves begin to fall. Only then Monsoon season hit Scotland and I discovered that it is actually the perfect raincoat. The big hood keeps me safe and dry but it is breezy enough under the cape to remain cool in the muggy weather. I'm entirely converted to the Duffle, intact I've already picked out my first winter coat - A toffee coloured Duffle with a back pleat to avoid all frumpiness!

I adore coats and honestly believe you can never have too many. They are an investment in the UK! The cape is beautiful!

you are brave going out in that weather! at least it has cleared up today :) we have an AMAAAAZING fur trim princess coat coming in to Urban for AW, look out for it! xx
ReplyDeleteI WISH I had a habit of collecting coats, winter always comes and I am freezing haha. Luckily it never gets too cold here. My weakness is definitely dresses, I have them in every shape/print/colour imaginable and even then I need more! x
ReplyDeleteI'm not a real coat person, but maybe that's due to the fact that I only have two wintercoast and I'm alwyas so, SO sick of them after all those cold months! I really like your duffle coats and almost bought a navy one at UO last year :) x
ReplyDeleteI should buy more coats as well. It's so sad to have only two of them to wear for the whole winter!
ReplyDeleteAnyway this cape is very nice :)
Oh gosh! I love coats too & always seem to be drawn to them in shops. This focus has recently shifted to shirts & I seem to have too many right now ...

I love the cape! I can be partial to a duffle coat, I found a beautiful one on ASOS a little while ago that I plan on making mine, although I know they can be a little frumpy!
ReplyDeleteI wish I bought more coats like you though! I have 3, and come winter I always scold my lack of winter clothing, but this year I plan on changing that xx

I agree, no such thing as too many coats! I have loads and can't wait to buy another for this winter. That duffle cape is gorgeous! Good find x
ReplyDeleteI seem to collect coats too, I have been looking for the perfect cape for ages now, I hope I find it before winter gets here!

I'm not sure why but I find it almost impossible to find coats I love...I've actually gone winters shivering in a flimsy jacket due to coat-buying indecision!! But I love this duffle coat...it has a real back-to-school feel :)

It is SO sweet! I love it! XX
ReplyDeleteLovely nautical-but-nice outfit!
ReplyDeleteI too hoard winter coats, but for me it is a quest to find the perfect one. It never seems to happen, but its possible this is just an excuse to keep buying said coats!
What a gorgeous outfit! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI am a complete coat and jacket hoarder. I agree with other comments- it's definitely to do with being british. We live in them, what? 11 months out of the year?
ReplyDeleteI used to buy a new winter coat every other year, but I succumbed to a duffle coat last summer and yesterday bought a trench!
My argument is that when it's cold, your jacket/coat is your outfit, so you need some variety!
Love this cape!

I love capes and yours is just beautiful. Last winter I was about to buy one but I finally didn't. I definetly should buy one for next winter.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying for a red duffle coat after I saw Jordana's in Submarine. Love! xx
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog via Ella Masters and very glad I did. Your photos are gorgeous, I love that one of your hair swishing in the wind. I also have a weakness for winter coats, so glad autumn has come early and given you an excuse to wear yours - it's lovely.

Outerwear is my sartorial weakness as well, I possibly own more coats, jackets and capes than dresses, which I do reckon is quite mental :)
ReplyDeleteAnd when I lived in Ireland I bought my red duffle coat in August as well, I actually used it straight away as it was freezing that year!
It looks very sweet on you my dear!
