Brooch and Bag - Vintage.
I think I may have mentioned this before but I love Edinburgh, my heart is full of love for my city. I've lived here for 12 years, just long enough to claim it as my own but not still not long enough to discover all it's secrets. Every time I think that I know an area by heart, I stumble upon an almost hidden back street or short cut. Creeping (Its not really creeping, they are just streets like any other.) around the mews has long been a favoured distraction of mine, sometimes they have been sadly demolished to make way for a car park but mostly the remain as they always have been. Rows of petite carriage houses built behind imposing townhouses, now that they no longer house horses and grooms or fancy cars and chauffeurs they have mostly been repurposed as darling little houses in their own right. We discovered these mews one Sunday on the way back from haggling at a car boot sale and couldn't resist coming back to take a few pictures. It's not far from our new flat so I think it might just have to be our new picture spot, what do you think?
This dress has been couped up in a garment bag for far too long, while I have been forced to wear paint splattered overalls so I felt that it was time to give it an airing, even if I was just going shopping. At first I felt quite brave wearing such a vibrant colour but paired with simple flats and my trusty bow brooch, I rather like it.
If you follow me on Facebook, you might already be familiar with this bag. Buying it was a bit of a triumph, I haggled and haggled with a grumpy stallholder at the aforementioned car boot sale. He used the phrase 'If you bought that on Ebay...' too many times for my liking but since I was not buying it on Ebay I drove the price down and took it home with me. Grumpy informed me that it is in fact a bowls bag, not as I assumed a bicycle tool bag but never the less, with a leather strap it works very nicely as a handbag.

It feels so good to be back blogging and hopefully I'll be back soon in the meantime you can now follow my antics on Instagram. I'm waywardaughter - with one d.
