Waiting for Summer to return!
In general I would say that we Brits have become accustom to the annual anticlimax that is British Summertime but this year has been a monumental disappointment. The inclement weather has been relentless, it has rained, it has drizzled, it has poured in biblical proportions. Armed with a sturdy brolly and a pair of Hunters, I weathered that perpetual storm easily enough but what came next was harder to navigate.

Muggy days when the sun is permanently hidden behind a thick barrier of clouds. Is it warm or cold? Who knows... Day after day, I have found myself hopelessly rummaging around in my wardrobe in search of something suitable. Only to find that everything that fit the bill was in dark unseasonal colours that just added to the over all doom and gloom. That is until I found this pastel bouclé jacket in the Asos sale. I had completely given up on buying summer clothes but this is the perfect unseasonal, seasonally appropriate jacket. Plus it reminds me a little of HM Liz's Jubilee get up, which I feel can only counts in its favour. Since it is woven with so many different colours, it goes with almost everything and still looks summery even if the weather is on the gloomy side.

In love with your style. the whole outfit is perfect. in love with the jacket and its my fave colour! xoxoxo love the nails too!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I keep reaching for the clothes that suit the temperatures and then realising they are all in autumnal browns and mustards. I want some rose colours and flowers but then they end up hidden under a cardigan and over black tights.
ReplyDeleteI love your nails Cait, such pretty colours and they look so good with your lovely new coat! Seeing these cobbled streets is making me miss Edinburgh big time. It's a shame that we never got to meet up again, I had always intended to get in touch but either things got too busy or it just completely slipped my mind! Oh well, I'm sure I'll be back in Edinburgh again at some point and then maybe we can arrange something :)
ReplyDeleteEdinburgh misses you too! If you are ever visiting, just drop me an email, I would love to share a pot of tea with you. I meant to comment on your graduation post - congratulations, what a specular way to celebrate! x
DeleteThank you! And will do :)
DeleteHahaha you should come to Spain!! That's an absolutely April-May coat for me LOL I had also seen it and it's lovely, love how it looks with that pink dress and the Paris brooch (L)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is beautiful...especially love the bag!

This outfit is lovely, that is such a lovely shade of pink on you. The weather has been so odd lately, it's grey but warm and I keep wearing clothes that are far too heavy and boiling. Somehow it seems a waste to wear my summery dresses xo
ReplyDeleteLove this Cait, and it's so good to see you back! Your hair is looking AMAZING by the way. I'm at that really awkward fringe stage (yet again) where I can't quite work out what whether to cut or grow it.... xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Emily! The irony is that I was having a horrible hair day and just wanted to bundle it all under a hat. It is the eternal girl dilemma, isn't it? I'm pretty sure it is all Zooey Deschanel's fault. However, I find life without a fringe far less frustrating - gone are sticky foreheads and that tufty bit that will never stay flat. x
Deleteaaah your nails are beautiful!

I can easily imagine how disappointing this weather must be feeling :( I've been in London a couple of weeks ago and I had to buy a coat... I did bring a few cardigans but the wind was so cold :-I
ReplyDeleteIf you guys are up to a little trip to roasting Italy, you'll always have a place to stay ;)

What a beautiful look, and all of the little details make it that more special. I'm especially in love with your sweet pin - how romantic!! xo veronika
ReplyDeleteSummer weather has been horrible here as well, but we are having the opposite problem that you are having! It's hardly rained and the temperatures have been over 100 degrees for months! I find myself wishing for winter whenever I step outside!
ReplyDeleteI do, however, very much love your outfit! The bag is fantastic! And so is the jacket! I wish I could wear one right now!
-Katie
the horrible weather on my end is over 100 degrees f! so i've been wearing next to nothing, and doing, next to nothing. i love the colors in this. perfect pop for a gloomy day.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely!!! Giveaway on my blog!!!www.soltantouno.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI have a similar bouclé coat from Asos perfect for the strange in between weather, although now we have it far too hot down South (always complaining!) I love these colours together :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, your photos and your very british style :) x

I have to chime in and agree with some others - you should embrace your weather, I'd give anything for it!! Close to 100 degrees day in day out, eyeball searing sun, 100% humidity day after day after day....you can't even give a thought to what you're wearing because all you can put on is a t shirt & you look like complete crap by the time you get anywhere anyway...
ReplyDeletecute brooch :) love the Queen inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour jacket is just beautiful. Bring on Summer!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous outfit! It has been Boiling hot these past 3 days in Wales! Head over here for some sun for a change haha xx

The brooch is awesome. I've always loved the 'idea' of a brooch, but they're usually too big and clunky for my taste. This one is lovely.

ReplyDeleteOur summer has been anticlimactic, too! Cold in the morning, yet heating up in the afternoon, more rain than usual even for this area (Washington state). It's difficult to dress because you want to be warm in the chilly mornings, yet cool in the afternoons.
ReplyDeleteThat jacket looks amazing!
These photographs are lovely, the tones in your outfit and the surrounding back drop match perfectly. Your nails and coat are every so pretty! Such a lovely look in this up then down weather we're having! x
ReplyDeletenice dress :):)
